The Dialysis Center
Langlade Memorial Hospital began treating patients with ESRD in May 2006 on a limited basis. LMH Dialysis Center, located in the St. Joseph’s building, received certification from CMS (Medicare) July 28, 2006 and was then able to treat the patients of our community requiring Dialysis.
- Hemodialysis commonly referred to as renal or kidney dialysis is a medical procedure in which a machine cleanses the blood of harmful wastes, excess salt and fluids after the kidneys can no longer perform these functions.
- Individuals with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) use hemodialysis as a substituted for their biological kidneys.
- Diabetes, high blood pressure, polycystic kidney disease, cancer, kidney infections or inflammation can lead to end-stage renal disease.
- Patients who require dialysis normally receive their treatments 3 times per week for 3-4 hours per day.
- The unit has served 33 patients to date. Currently we have 27 patients who receive their dialysis at Langlade Memorial Dialysis Center.
